May Update

It's May and work is really progressing on the project!  We are approaching the end of May and we should have the newly-renovated Chisholm Hall and McLennan Hall returned to us by the contractors at the end of the month.  As of now we have not been notified of any delays that will change this expected date...

What you will see in these rooms is that McLennan Hall has been completely repainted and the ugly blue chair-rail that previously ran the perimeter of the room has been removed. These are the most notable changes...there are some other changes but they mostly involved technical issues.  This room is not totally finished -- when the new addition is constructed of the wrap-around prefunction lobby around this room there will be doorways that connect and the room entrances will be re-oriented to come in from the new corridor...but we have to wait until that part is built!

What you will see in Chisholm Hall is a bit more dramatic - I think!  The entire room has been painted and new acoustical panels have been installed on the upper side walls all around the room.  The colors are more sedate -- tans, dark brown and black accent.   The west end of the room - where the loading dock and stage sit - has been painted black, the stage drapes have been changed to black drapes and the former balcony on the east end of the room has been enclosed.  That space is now storage space - you may not even notice it - except that the blue pipe & drape is no longer up on the balcony shielding the equipment stored up there from sight.  All of the lighting has been replaced -- and there is much more lightin than before.  As an exhibit hall this room will be better than ever -- and with the new color combinations the room can even be categorized as elegant!

Just as with McLennan there are still things that will need to be done to complete this room's transformation - but that cannot happen until the new addition is constructed on the north side of the building.  Once the new addition is completed there will be 2 room entrance doors on the east end of the room that will give patrons direct access into the room from the new lobby.

AND -- they have started drilling the piers for the supports for the new addition on the east end of the building - the balcony off of the Brazos Room and will soon move to the north side to drill piers there for that new addition.  I can't wait to get the new additions built!  Those changes are really going to make this building more user-friendly.

That is all for now --check out our Facebook site to see some of the latest pictures -- check back here for more details...
