Q. I'm looking for a good Greek restaurant or a restaurant that serves Greek any suggestions?
A. Karla, no Greek restaurants I know of, but D's Mediterranean serves that type of food. And, might I add, it's delicious! Their address is 1503 Colcord Avenue Waco, TX 76707-2243.
Q. Hi, I'm wondering if downtown Waco is walking distance to the Baylor campus? If not, how far is the university from the downtown area? Thanks.
A. Carolyn, Baylor students walk it all the time. It's less than a mile, depending on where on campus you start. There is also a bus called the DASH (Downtown Area Shuttle) that runs between Baylor and downtown. Here's a link to information about it: http://www.waco-texas.com/transit/dash.asp.
Q. Where can i find out why the attractions in cameron park were named why they were?
A. Brittany, there is a great book on Cameron Park called, "William Cameron Park: A Centennial History, 1910-2010" that has all the information anyone could want. You can purchase it at our Tourist Information Center if you are in the Waco area, or on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/William-Cameron-Park-Centennial-1910-2010/dp/1602582890/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325601666&sr=1-1-fkmr1. If you have any specific questions on names, let me know.

Ethnic food is fine. We're not a picky bunch. Thanks!
A. Rachael, we have several restaurants open on Christmas Day. The list follows:
A-1 Buffet & Grill
Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
Cracker Barrel

You can find the phone numbers and addresses for these here: http://www.wacocvb.com/waco-restaurants.asp I think that all of the one's listed are handicap accessible.

Q. I would just like to ask if there are any filipino store/asian store in waco? Thanks.
A. There are not any Filipino/Asian stores in Waco that I am aware of, but there are many Asian restaurants from Clay Pot (Vietnamese) to Bangkok Royal (Thai) to Kitok (Korean). There is an organization called Filipino-American Association of Central Texas that is based in Killeen/Ft. Hood, about 60 miles from here. http://www.filamofcentraltexas.com.
Q. My daughter, a student at Baylor, is flying out of the Waco Airport. Is there some kind of shuttle service she can use to get there? If not, do you know of other ways to get to the airport? I think all of her friends will have left town for Christmas break by the day she's leaving or she'd get a ride from one of them.
Thanks!
A. There is not a shuttle service in Waco, but we do have a cab company. Yellow cab can be reached at
Q. I am a new resident to Waco and heard about the first Sunday of the month being free and was wondering what the hours were.
A. Jennifer, you are probably referring to the Mayborn Museum. On Sunday, they are open 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Be sure to check their calendar to doublecheck! Here's the link: http://www.baylor.edu/mayborn/index.php?id=15399
Q. I am planning to meet a couple of friends in Waco. None of us are from Waco so we are not familiar with the area. We are plannning on lunch and maybe a movie. I have been looking up movie theatres but found only 3, which do not have very good customer reviews. Which movie theatre is the best? We have Movie Taverns- which serve bar & grill. Is there something similar here?
A. Hi Claudia, there are two major movie theaters, the Hollywood and the Galaxy Starplex. The third one is a discount theater. Either of these major ones are fine. We do not have a movie tavern yet, although a couple have looked at our area for expansion. For your lunch, we would suggest Cricket's Bar & Grill downtown, a fun place with 150 draft beers on tap. Or perhaps George's restaurant, a Texas honky tonk made famous by Pat Green. If you feel like a nice lunch on the Brazos River, I would suggest Buzzard Billy's. Good luck and have fun!
Q. I am visiting Waco for a business trip and I am vegan. Do you know if there are any good restaurants that offer vegan options? (Vegan - meaning no meat, fish, dairy - including eggs.) Thank You! Looking forward to seeing Waco.
A. Hi Scott! We're glad you're visiting Waco! Although there are no strictly vegan or vegetarian restaurants in Waco, there are definitely some vegan dining options. You could try Bangkok Royal, an authentic Thai restaurant. Or Teriyaki Park, which does Japanese fast food including plenty of vegan options on the sushi rolls. (Sushi without fish, I mean!) For basic salad fare you can try Jason's Deli. Finally, D's Mediterranean Restaurant has fantastic Syrian food with lots of vegan options. It's not a fancy place, but it's one of the most popular in Waco. Located at 1503 Colcord Avenue.
Q. What is the story about the William Cameron home by MCC? Is it haunted?
What is the history?
A. Nancy, the home you are referring to was formerly the Camerons' summertime home, which has become the Art Center Waco. This is located on the MCC campus. Here is a link to their website: http://www.artcenterwaco.org/old_site/index.htm. As far as I know, it is not haunted. I've been there many times and never heard anything unusual.
Q. I am trying to plan a Family Reunion and Waco seems like the perfect place for all people to meet. I am looking for a meeting facility or dining hall to rent for the day. We would prefer to have a place to heat up food but it is not required. The facility must have AC though. Can you please let me know if you have anything in your area that fits this need? Thank you for your help.
A. April, you are right! Waco is the ideal place for your family reunion. We have a variety of spaces, from the club house in beautiful Cameron Park, to rooms available for rental at local attractions. You can find a list here: http://www.wacocvb.com/mfind.asp . Q. We would like to know where the best or nicest motel rooms are close to the VA hospital in Waco. Please give names or phone no. Thanks
A. Judy, there are several award winning hotels near the VA Hospital. Quality Inn & Suites is on the same street, located at the corner of I-35 and New Road. Other nearby properties include Hampton Inn South, Comfort Suites and Homewood Suites. For a complete list of hotels and their locations, visit our lodging page: http://www.wacocvb.com/waco-hotels.asp. You'll also find some coupons there.
Q. What do they make at the Mars factory in Woodway, and do they have a store or something to purchase large/bulk quantities of product?
A. Seth, according to Mars' corporate site, the Waco plant produces the Mars non-chocolate products: SKITTLES® Bite Size Candy and STARBURST® Fruit Chews. The site also produces SNICKERS Bar, the country’s number one chocolate bar. I don't believe they sell direct to the public. There are various places to purchase in bulk, from Sam's Club to online at www.candydirect.com.
