TEXAS TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES 30 YEARS IN WACO
WACO, Texas - The Texas Technology Student Association (TSA) is conducting its 30th consecutive convention in Waco May 3-5, 2007.
The TSA is a national, nonprofit organization for middle and high school students with a strong interest in technology. It promotes technology literacy, science, engineering and mathematics in the classroom. Since TSA was chartered in 1978, over 2 million students have been a part of the organization. Currently the Texas TSA, which was officially organized in 1958, has over 12,070 members.
The mission of TSA is to prepare its student members for the challenges of a dynamic world by promoting technological literacy, leadership, and problem solving skills, resulting in personal growth and opportunities.
Convention attendance is approximately 5,000, with an average economic impact of over $1.4 million annually. The combined economic impact for 30 years of conventions is in excess of $43 million.
This year's convention will focus on the various projects that students have worked very diligently on throughout the school year. The public is invited to stop by the Waco Convention Center on Friday from noon - 4PM and on Saturday from 9AM- 1PM to look at these projects. Students will also be participating in 66 different competitions throughout the convention including the MATE ROV Robotics Competition, Biotechnology Challenge, Flight Endurance, Trebuchet Competition, and Computer Aided Design Events.

" said Elizabeth Taylor, Director of the Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau.
