TIME HONORED TRADITIONS ARE CELEBRATED IN WACO
WACO, Texas - The Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced that Waco will be the location for local celebrations including Baylor Heritage, taking place April 1-2, and the Cotton Palace Pageant, held April 27.
With an estimated attendance of over 300, Baylor Heritage is an annual gathering of Baylor graduates from Texas and beyond. This event allows former students and professors to reunite and reminisce their years at Baylor University. Baylor Heritage will take place at the Waco Convention Center, located in downtown Waco.
Cotton Palace Pageant, which was revived by Waco residents in 1970, is an energetic stage production that recounts the history of Waco. In its 37th year, this two-hour stage show features local residents who use drama, song and dance to chronicle the history of the Cotton Palace. The pageant will be held at Waco Hall on the campus of Baylor University. For more information, call 755-9299.
The Lions Club International District 2-X3 will hold their annual meeting April 27-28 at the Waco Convention Center. The Lions Club is a non-profit organization of men and women who work together to answer the needs that challenge their local communities as well as communities worldwide. Their volunteer efforts include support of vision care, as well as addressing unmet health and education needs worldwide.
Other events taking place in Waco for the month of April
include high school proms, civic organizations banquets
and special events, and job fairs. The Funeral Directors
will also hold their 14th annual Continuing Education Conference
April 18-19.
"We are excited to have these events being held in
Waco," said Elizabeth Taylor, Director of the Waco
Convention & Visitors Bureau. "This is a great
example of Wacoans taking time to remember the history of
this great city, as well as celebrate its heritage."
