RESEARCH COUNCIL, CLOGGERS, COLLECTORS RETURNING TO WACO IN MARCH

WACO, Texas - The Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) today announced that Waco would be the home for a variety of conventions and events returning in the month of March, including the 15th Annual Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Onsite Wastewater Treatment Research Council Conference, taking place March 5-7. This conference, which has been meeting in Waco for the past 5 years and by itself brings in an economic impact of $474,000, provides information about on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems, installation practices, soils, Texas rules and regulations, and enforcement issues.

Also returning to Waco in March are the Texas Clogging Council and the Dr Pepper Collectors Club. These two conventions will bring in an estimated economic impact of $305,250. The Texas Clogging Council will hold their 28th annual state rally March 9-10. This rally has been held in Waco for the past 13 years and will bring cloggers from all over Texas to learn new dances, as well as perform in public. The rally is open to the public with the purchase of a spectator ribbon for $7.00. For more information, contact Jean Moeller at 254-772-0227 or 254-722-0511.

The Dr Pepper Collectors Club will also hold their 23rd annual convention March 9-10. Collectors of memorabilia from the Waco-born soft drink will attend seminars and business meetings. There will also be an auction and swap meet during the convention. The Dr Pepper Collectors Club annual convention will be open to the public on Saturday, March 10 from 10 AM - 3 PM. For more information, contact Charles Brizius at 214-520-5770.

"This is an exciting way to continue the strong positive economic impact that we have had since the beginning of 2007," said Elizabeth Taylor, Director of the Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau. "These groups, combined with smaller groups and various events throughout the city, will have a significant economic impact on Waco."
