TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES
35 YEARS IN WACO
WACO, Texas - The Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association is conducting its 35th consecutive convention in Waco January 11-13, 2007.
In 1972 an energetic group of high school coaches gathered in Waco to formulate new ideas for the promotion and improvement of high school baseball in Texas. That group founded what is now called the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. Over the past 34 years the association has grown in membership in every division of baseball and is one of the fastest growing baseball associations in the country.
The THSBCA works hard to promote membership and further its members' knowledge and awareness of baseball at all levels. The THSBCA staff handles concerns with current issues, rules changes, coach-umpire relations, recognition of players/coaches through award programs, and more. The THSBCA has a website to further assist members and friends of baseball every day.
Convention attendance is approximately 3,000, with an average economic impact of $750,000 annually. The combined economic impact for 35 years of conventions is in excess of $26.25 million.
This year's convention will feature information that highlights a variety of skills and professional knowledge needed to make Texas high school coaches more proficient and players more successful.
"Anytime Waco is selected as the host site for a convention it is a great honor. To have this opportunity 35 consecutive years is a tribute to the city of Waco. I would like to thank the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Assn. for their confidence in our ability to continuously produce a successful event." said Elizabeth Taylor, Director of the Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau.
